Realtime protection greyed out and update "access denied"

Hi All

I have a PC only used for gaming only and while updating
to SP1 I noticed that Avira's umbrella was closed. When I try to enable
it I see this:



When I load Avira I see this:


When I try to enable Real Time Protection this page pops up:


I then tried to update Avira and this happens:


Then I tried to manually start this Avira service and this happens:


I
have tried uninstalling manually then reinstalling in normal and safe
mode. I've scanned with malware bytes and other software and no
detections show up. I'm not sure what else to do.
